Set Up a Limited Company

Set Up Your Limited Company With a Qualified Accountant
To set up a limited company, you register it with Companies House with a company name, a director, at least one shareholder, a person with significant control and a SIC code, then complete identity verification and register for tax. The fastest, cleanest way to do it is to have an accountant handle the whole process for you.
We form your company, verify your directors, choose the right share structure and register you for the right taxes, usually on the same working day. Fair Accountants is a qualified accountancy practice and HMRC-approved agent based in Crawley, West Sussex. Setting up a limited company is one of our core company secretarial services, so we don’t just register your company and vanish, we form it as accountants, with your tax position and first-year deadlines built in from the start.

What You Need to Set Up a Limited Company
To set up a limited company in the UK, you need a company name, a registered office address, at least one director, details of your shareholders and their shares, a SIC code describing what your business does, and at least one person with significant control (PSC).
Since 18 November 2025, every new director and PSC must also complete Companies House identity verification before the company can be incorporated. We build that step in, so nothing gets rejected or delayed.
Once incorporated under the Companies Act 2006, your company becomes its own legal entity, separate from you personally, with its own registration number and certificate of incorporation.

Should You Set Up a Limited Company or Stay a Sole Trader?
Not everyone needs a limited company. A limited company usually starts to make sense when your profits grow, when you want limited liability protection, or when clients prefer working with a company.
If you’re weighing up sole trader vs limited company, we’ll give you a straight answer based on your numbers because incorporating brings extra admin as well as tax advantages. If you’re not ready, we’ll say so, and our sole trader accountants service can support you until you are. Once you’re up and running, see our limited company accountant service for ongoing accounts and tax.
